STF Arrests Key Associate of ‘Dubai Ravishka’ With Over 18kg of Ice in Bandaragama

The Police Special Task Force (STF) has arrested a suspected key associate of an overseas-based drug trafficking network and seized more than 18 kilograms of Ice (crystal methamphetamine) during a raid in Bandaragama.

The operation was carried out on August 18 by officers attached to the Headquarters Special Operations Unit of the STF’s Horana Camp, acting on intelligence received regarding the suspected drug network.

Over 18kg of Ice Seized

STF officers raided a house in Maswila, Vendesi Watta, Bandaragama, where they discovered a large quantity of Ice concealed inside the residence.

According to the STF, the seized drugs weighed 18 kilograms and 672 grams and are believed to have been intended for distribution through an organised drug trafficking network.

Officers also recovered a digital weighing scale and two mobile phones, which are suspected to have been used in connection with drug trafficking activities.

Suspect Linked to Overseas-Based Drug Network

The arrested suspect is a 23-year-old resident of Maswila.

Preliminary investigations have reportedly revealed that the suspect was allegedly operating as a key local associate of ‘Dubai Ravishka’, a suspected drug trafficking kingpin believed to be hiding in Dubai.

Police also suspect that the arrested individual has links to the organised crime and narcotics network associated with ‘Kudu Salindu.’

The authorities are continuing investigations to determine the suspect’s exact role in the alleged network and identify other individuals involved in the distribution of the seized drugs.

Case Handed Over to Police Narcotics Bureau

The suspect, the seized Ice consignment and other exhibits recovered during the raid have been handed over to the Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) for further investigations.

The latest seizure is expected to form part of ongoing efforts by Sri Lankan law enforcement authorities to disrupt organised drug trafficking networks operating through local and overseas-based associates.

The allegations against the arrested suspect remain subject to further investigation and legal proceedings.
