Evening Thundershowers Expected in Several Provinces This Week
The Department of Meteorology states that evening thundershowers are expected in the Northern, North-Central, Uva, and Eastern provinces over the next few days due to favorable atmospheric conditions.
Showers or thundershowers are also likely after 1.00 p.m. in several areas of the Northern, North-Central, Central, Uva, and Eastern provinces.
Fairly heavy rainfall exceeding 50 mm is expected in some locations, the Met Department added.
A few showers may occur in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces, as well as in Galle and Matara districts.
Winds in the Southern province may reach speeds of around 40 kmph at times.
The public is urged to take necessary precautions against possible damage from temporary strong winds and lightning during these thundershowers.
