GMOA Suspends Planned Island-Wide Strike
The Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) has decided to suspend its planned island-wide strike, which was set to begin today (11) at 8.00 a.m.

The strike was to be launched over several demands, including concerns about the implementation of doctors’ transfers. However, following a meeting with Health Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa, the GMOA’s Executive Committee reported “positive outcomes” and opted to temporarily call off the trade union action.
The GMOA stated it will closely monitor the situation before making further decisions. As part of ongoing trade union measures, the association advised Registered House Officers (RHOs) not to apply for current post-intern vacancies, citing that the “arbitrarily published” vacancy list is expected to be amended.
