Government Development Projects to Begin in September, Says Minister Bimal Ratnayake

Minister Bimal Ratnayake announced that the government will launch large-scale development projects across the country starting in September.

He stated that the first phase will begin in Jaffna under the patronage of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake. Among the key initiatives, development of the new Coconut Triangle in the Northern Province, centered in Mullaitivu in the Vanni region, is scheduled to commence on September 2.

Minister Ratnayake also revealed that an international sports complex in Mandaitivu, Jaffna, will be officially opened during this phase.

Commenting further, the Minister said:
“From the first of September, the government will launch major development projects for the benefit of the people.”

Additionally, he confirmed that the longstanding issue of obtaining passports from the Jaffna District Secretariat will be resolved. A new online system will soon be introduced to facilitate the process. Several other development programs are also planned to roll out in parallel.
