The Department of Meteorology has issued an Amber Advisory for sea areas extending from Galle to Pottuvil via Matara and Hambantota, and from Puttalam to Kankasanthurai via Mannar.

The advisory, released at 9:30 a.m. today (26), will remain in effect for 24 hours until 9:30 a.m. on Saturday (27).

According to the advisory, these sea areas are expected to be rough or very rough, with strong gusty winds reaching speeds of 55–65 kmph.

The Met Department has urged naval and fishing communities to remain cautious and avoid risks during this period.
