CEB Employees Launch Sick Leave Campaign as Trade Union Action Escalates

Employees of the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) have commenced a sick leave campaign today (17) as part of their escalating trade union action.

According to Kosala Abeysinghe, Chairman of the CEB Technical Engineers’ Union, this initiative marks the beginning of the second phase of their union action against the government’s proposed restructuring of the CEB.

The union previously staged a “work-to-rule” campaign, and the sick leave protest is seen as a stronger step in their ongoing efforts.
