Torrential rains from tropical storms Priscilla and Raymond caused landslides and flooding across five states.

President Claudia Sheinbaum’s administration is coordinating a response plan to support 139 affected towns. Photos shared by the Mexican military show evacuations using life rafts, homes flooded with mud, and rescue workers navigating waist-high waters through town streets.

The fatalities include 18 in Veracruz, 16 in Hidalgo, 9 in Puebla, and 1 in Queretaro, according to a government statement.

“We continue with attention to the emergency in Veracruz, Hidalgo, Puebla, Queretaro, and San Luis Potosí, in coordination with the governors and various federal authorities. The National Emergency Committee is in permanent session,” Sheinbaum said on X.
