NTC Introduces Unified Timetable for Long-Distance Passenger Buses

The National Transport Commission (NTC) has announced that long-distance passenger buses operated by both the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) and private companies will now function under a unified timetable.

According to the NTC, this new system will cover several major routes, including:

  • Colombo – Chilaw
  • Colombo – Puttalam
  • Colombo – Anamaduwa
  • Colombo – Eluwankulama
  • Colombo – Kalpitiya
  • Negombo – Kalpitiya
  • Colombo – Mannar
  • Colombo – Talaimannar
  • Colombo – Kuliyapitiya
  • Colombo – Nikaweratiya
  • Colombo – Anuradhapura
  • Colombo – Vavuniya
  • Colombo – Kilinochchi
  • Colombo – Jaffna
  • Colombo – Kankesanturai
  • Colombo – Karainagar
  • Colombo – Thunukkai

NTC Chairman Eng. P.A. Chandrapala confirmed that these long-distance buses will commence operations from midnight today (25) at the Bastiyan Mawatha Private Bus Stand.

He further explained that after four and a half hours of driving, provisions will be made for drivers to rest at designated points, ensuring safety and efficiency.

Additionally, the NTC has emphasized that continuous monitoring will be in place to guarantee hygienic food facilities for passengers traveling on these routes.
