Wife of ‘Backhoe Saman’, Shadhika Lakshani, Further Remanded

Shadhika Lakshani, the wife of underworld figure ‘Backhoe Saman’, has been further remanded until September 25 under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act. The order was issued by the Colombo Magistrate’s Court, according to an Ada Derana reporter.

Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanka S. Bodaragama delivered the ruling after considering submissions made by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and the defense counsel representing the suspect.

The Magistrate also directed the Director of the Police Narcotics Bureau to appear before court on the same date.

Lakshani remains in custody as investigations into alleged money laundering activities continue.
