Two US Service Members Killed in Iran Attacks as US-Iran Tensions Escalate
Two US service members have been killed and another remains missing following Iranian ballistic missile and drone attacks in Jordan, according to the US Central Command (CENTCOM).
CENTCOM said four other US personnel were medically evacuated to hospitals in Jordan but have since been released after receiving treatment. Several additional service members who suffered minor injuries have also returned to duty.
US military officials have not released the identities of those killed or provided further details regarding the circumstances or exact location of the incident.
US Launches Further Air Strikes Against Iran
The US military has launched another round of air strikes against Iran under the direction of President Donald Trump, CENTCOM said.
The latest strikes mark the eighth consecutive night of US military operations and are aimed at reducing Iran’s ability to threaten commercial shipping routes in the Strait of Hormuz, according to the statement.
The Strait of Hormuz is a strategically important global energy route through which a significant portion of the world’s oil and gas shipments pass.
Iran Warns of Retaliation
Meanwhile, Major General Ali Abdullahi, commander of Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, has warned that any further US military action would receive a strong response from Iranian armed forces.
In a statement carried by Iranian state media, Abdullahi said that “any aggression or barbarism” would be met with a decisive response.
He also accused the United States of hostile actions and pledged to strengthen cooperation between Iran’s armed forces, government officials, and the public.
US Issues Global Travel Warning
Amid escalating military exchanges between the United States and Iran, the US State Department has advised American citizens travelling internationally to exercise increased caution due to heightened tensions in the Middle East.
The warning was issued before the latest round of US air strikes, with officials expressing concerns over possible further escalation of the conflict.
The situation remains tense as both countries continue military operations and exchange warnings, raising concerns over regional security and the impact on international trade and energy supplies.
