Crane Driver in Borella Fatal Crash Tested Positive for Cannabis
The crane operator involved in this morning’s tragic accident in Borella has tested positive for cannabis use, police confirmed following a medical examination.
The accident, which occurred on July 28, left one person dead and seven others injured. All injured individuals are currently being treated at the Colombo National Hospital.
According to Deputy Director Dr. Rukshan Bellana, one of the victims succumbed to injuries upon arrival at the hospital. Police investigations are ongoing, with the driver now under scrutiny for operating heavy machinery while impaired.
Authorities have emphasized the seriousness of the incident, calling for stricter regulations and enforcement related to drug testing for operators of heavy vehicles.
