Government Analyst’s Department Office Assistant Arrested with Heroin and ICE

A Government Analyst’s Department office assistant was arrested in Hokandara South for possession of illegal narcotics, police confirmed on Tuesday.

The 58-year-old suspect was apprehended by the Intelligence Division of the Special Task Force (STF). Officers discovered 265 grams of heroin and 250 grams of ICE (crystal methamphetamine) in his possession at the time of the arrest.

The arrested individual, a resident of Hokandara South, was working as an office assistant at the Government Analyst’s Department, a key institution responsible for forensic and chemical analysis in Sri Lanka.

Following the arrest, the suspect was handed over to the Malabe Police Station for further investigations. Authorities have yet to release additional details regarding the source or intended distribution of the seized narcotics.

This incident has raised concerns about possible internal security lapses and the infiltration of state institutions by drug networks.
