646 Arrested in Island-Wide Police Operation Across Sri Lanka

A total of 646 individuals were arrested during a special island-wide police operation carried out yesterday (27). The arrests were made on suspicion of involvement in criminal activities, illicit liquor, and drug-related offenses, according to the Police Media Division.

During the operation, authorities inspected 26,572 individuals across the country. Police confirmed that several of the suspects were wanted for ongoing investigations, while others were caught in possession of narcotics and illicit liquor.

The operation was part of the Sri Lanka Police’s ongoing crackdown on organized crime and drug trafficking. Further investigations are underway.
