Colombo High Court Sets September 24 Date for Mervyn Silva Bribery Case

The Colombo High Court has scheduled the case against former Minister Mervyn Silva for September 24. The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) filed the case, accusing Silva of illegally acquiring assets during his ministerial tenure.

The case was heard today (July 28) before Judge Sahan Mapa Bandara. During the session, lawyers from both sides asked for a full trial conference.

The court then ordered a pre-trial conference to be held on September 24.

CIABOC alleges that Silva acquired property worth nearly Rs. 150 million beyond his lawful income between 2010 and 2012, violating the Anti-Corruption Act.
