Sri Lanka Dengue Cases Rise to 77,028 as 162 MOH Divisions Remain High-Risk Zones

The total number of dengue cases reported in Sri Lanka has increased to 77,028 so far this year, according to the National Dengue Control Unit (NDCU).

Health officials said the highest number of dengue infections continues to be reported from the Gampaha and Colombo districts, which remain among the most affected areas in the country.

The NDCU revealed that 21,650 dengue patients have been identified during just the first 20 days of this month, indicating a continued increase in dengue transmission.

Dengue Death Toll Reaches 56

The number of dengue-related deaths in Sri Lanka has risen to 56, according to the latest figures released by health authorities.

The National Dengue Control Unit has continued to intensify prevention programmes and public awareness campaigns amid the growing threat of the mosquito-borne disease.

162 MOH Divisions Classified as High-Risk Areas

The NDCU stated that 162 Medical Officer of Health (MOH) divisions across the island have been designated as high-risk dengue zones.

Authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions by eliminating mosquito breeding grounds, especially stagnant water sources around homes, workplaces, and public areas.

Health officials continue to emphasise that early medical attention is important for individuals experiencing dengue symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, body aches, and fatigue.
