Yemen Migrant Boat Capsizing: Death Toll Reaches 68, Dozens Still Missing
Death Toll Rises to 68 in Yemen Migrant Boat Tragedy; 74 Still Missing
The death toll from the tragic migrant boat capsizing off Yemen’s southern coast has climbed to 68, with 74 individuals still unaccounted for, local authorities confirmed on Tuesday.

According to Abdul Qader Bajamil, Director of the Health Office in Abyan Province, rescue teams recovered 68 bodies along the coastline throughout the day. Twelve survivors were rescued earlier in the morning, despite ongoing rough sea conditions that continue to hamper search and recovery operations.
The incident occurred off the coast of southern Abyan, a known route for migrants attempting to cross from the Horn of Africa into Yemen and onward to Gulf countries in search of better opportunities. The boat was reportedly carrying over 150 migrants, but official confirmation on the exact number is yet to be released.
Authorities and humanitarian agencies are continuing the search for the missing while providing urgent medical and psychological support to the survivors.
