18-Year-Old Dies Following Assault in Palapathwela, Matale

An 18-year-old youth from Palapathwela, Matale, has died after being attacked during an argument that escalated at a residence in the area.

The incident occurred on July 27, when the deceased, accompanied by three others, visited the suspect’s home and engaged in a heated argument with the suspect and residents.

According to police investigations, the suspect attacked the youth with a sharp weapon, inflicting a fatal wound to the neck. Another person also sustained cuts during the incident.

The injured were admitted to Matale Hospital, where the youth later succumbed to his injuries.

The suspect has been arrested, and Matale Police continue their investigations into the case.
