The meeting took place at the Parliament Complex and was chaired by Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya.
During the discussions, committee members reviewed proposals to expand access to vocational education, improve infrastructure at selected institutions, and implement development projects aimed at enhancing the quality of technical and industrial training.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, the initiative is expected to strengthen Sri Lanka’s vocational education sector by creating new training opportunities and equipping students with modern technical knowledge and industry-relevant skills through upgraded learning facilities.
The programme is also intended to improve the overall standard of technical education while supporting the country’s demand for a skilled workforce.
The meeting was attended by Anura Karunathilaka, Anil Jayantha, Upali Pannilage, as well as senior officials representing the ministries responsible for Education, Higher Education, and Vocational Education.
