Eleven Indian Nationals Remanded Over Illegal Online Gambling in Thalangama
Eleven Indian nationals arrested for allegedly operating an illegal online gambling ring in Sri Lanka have been remanded until August 7 by the Kaduwela Magistrate’s Court.

The suspects—eight men and three women—were apprehended during a late-night raid on August 4 in the Akuregoda area of Thalangama, following a tip-off received by Thalangama Police.
According to police, the group was involved in online gambling activities using various digital devices, including mobile phones and laptops. Authorities seized 20 mobile phones, three laptops, and one tablet from the premises as evidence.
The arrested individuals include women aged 22, 30, and 43, and men aged between 25 and 29, all identified as Indian nationals.
Investigations into the suspected online gambling operation are ongoing, with police working to uncover the extent of the illegal activities and whether more individuals are involved.
