Amber Weather Advisory Issued for Strong Winds Across Several Provinces and Districts
The Department of Meteorology has issued an ‘Amber’ weather advisory for strong winds affecting several regions of Sri Lanka. The advisory, issued at 08:30 a.m. today, October 27, warns of strong winds of 50-60 km/h, which could occur intermittently across the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Southern, Northern, North-central, and North-western provinces, as well as the Trincomalee and Batticaloa districts.

This advisory will be in effect for the next 24 hours, lasting until 08:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 28. The strong winds are attributed to the cyclonic storm “Montha,” which is located to the northeast of Sri Lanka in the Bay of Bengal.
The public has been advised to take necessary precautions to minimize potential damage from the strong winds.
