President Anura Kumara Dissanayake Begins Official Visit to the Maldives
28 July 2025 – Colombo: President Anura Kumara Dissanayake departed the island this morning to begin a three-day official visit to the Maldives, from July 28 to 30, at the invitation of Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced.

During the visit, President Dissanayake will engage in bilateral discussions with President Muizzu and witness the signing of several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) aimed at strengthening cooperation between the two nations.
The visit also marks a significant milestone, as Sri Lanka and the Maldives celebrate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of formal diplomatic relations this year.
While in the Maldives, President Dissanayake is scheduled to address a business forum and meet with members of the Sri Lankan expatriate community, further reinforcing ties at both governmental and grassroots levels.
He is accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism, Vijitha Herath, along with other senior government officials.
