Three Indian nationals have been arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) while attempting to smuggle 12 kilograms and 160 grams of the high-grade cannabis strain known as ‘Kush’ into Sri Lanka.

The arrests were made this morning (August 7) at the airport’s arrival terminal, following a search operation based on a tip-off received by the Airport Unit of the Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB).

According to police, the suspects include one male and two females, all reportedly from the same family. The male suspect is 42 years old, while the female suspects are aged 22 and 43.

The narcotic substance, believed to have been carefully concealed in their luggage, was discovered during routine checks carried out by PNB officers.
