Sri Lanka–Romania Labour Talks as Minister Vijitha Herath Begins Official Visit

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism Vijitha Herath will undertake an official visit to Romania from March 1 to 3, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

During the visit, Minister Herath is scheduled to hold high-level talks with Romania’s Foreign Minister, Minister of Labour, Family, Youth and Social Solidarity, and the Minister of Economy, Digitalization, Entrepreneurship and Tourism.

According to the Foreign Ministry, discussions will focus on strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation in areas of mutual interest, with particular emphasis on structured labour mobility, enhanced institutional cooperation, and the promotion of safe, orderly, and regular migration.

The visit will also see the signing of a bilateral Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Labour Cooperation, aimed at establishing a formal framework for collaboration in labour and employment. The Ministry said the agreement will ensure cooperation is carried out in a transparent, regulated, and mutually beneficial manner.
