Commander’s Cup International Sailing Regatta 2026 to Begin in Trincomalee
The Sri Lanka Navy’s Commander’s Cup International Sailing Regatta 2026 is set to begin in Trincomalee tomorrow, bringing together sailing athletes from six countries for a major international maritime sporting event.

The regatta, organised by the Sri Lanka Navy, will be held for the sixth consecutive year and is expected to showcase competitive sailing while strengthening Sri Lanka’s position as a destination for international maritime sports.
Athletes From Six Countries to Compete
Competitors representing Bangladesh, Italy, China, India, Indonesia and Sri Lanka are scheduled to participate in this year’s regatta.
The international participation is expected to add further significance to the event, which has become an established fixture on Sri Lanka’s maritime sporting calendar.
Opening Ceremony Held in Trincomalee
The official opening ceremony was held today under the patronage of Commander Eastern Naval Area Rear Admiral Buddhika Liyanagamage, marking the commencement of the 2026 international competition.
The event will bring together local and international sailing athletes in Trincomalee as they compete in the Commander’s Cup.
The Maharaja Media Network is serving as the official media partner of the tournament.
The sixth edition of the Commander’s Cup is expected to further promote sailing and maritime sports in Sri Lanka while providing an international platform for the country’s sailing athletes.
