Legal Action Initiated to Recover Unpaid Taxes from Liquor Manufacturing Companies

The Attorney General’s Department has informed the Supreme Court that legal proceedings have been initiated to recover taxes allegedly owed by liquor manufacturing companies that have failed to settle their tax obligations.

The disclosure was made when a Fundamental Rights petition seeking an order to recover outstanding tax payments from liquor manufacturers was taken up before the Supreme Court today.

Appearing on behalf of the Attorney General, the Additional Solicitor General informed the court that necessary legal steps have already been taken before the District Court to recover the outstanding tax revenue from the relevant companies.

The case was filed seeking court intervention to ensure the recovery of unpaid taxes owed by liquor manufacturers and to protect government revenue.

The Attorney General’s Department informed the court that action is currently underway to recover the amounts due through the appropriate legal process.

Further proceedings regarding the matter are expected to continue before the Supreme Court.
